She Loves to Paint!

Biography
Nancy began her art career five years ago, discovering the expressive world of soft pastels through online tutorials during the Covid pandemic. Nancy is drawn to subjects that evoke a sense of journey, using color and light to create moods that invite viewers into her scenes.
Her life experiences—particularly her love of nature and gardening—have shaped her artistic vision. These influences are evident in her pastel paintings, where she continually explores the possibilities of color without repetition. Nancy is always adjusting hues and values, thoughtfully re-evaluating their relationships to achieve harmony and depth. Even after considering a painting finished, she often returns to refine details as new inspiration strikes.
For Nancy, pastels are a beautiful and forgiving medium. The immediacy of their colors and the flexibility of different palettes and techniques make each painting session a joyful experiment. Most of her works are inspired by the natural beauty of Upstate New York and the diverse landscapes encountered during her travels.
As an artist, Nancy pays close attention to the intimate details of nature—the shifting light throughout the day, the play of colors and shadows, the bounty of the changing seasons, and the emergence of new blooms. She finds endless inspiration in these moments, celebrating the glorious variety that surrounds us.ation in these moments, celebrating the glorious variety that surrounds us.

"As an artist I’m always paying attention to the intimate details of nature and where my eye is drawn. It is where I find my inspiration … the light changing during the day, colors, shadow, nature’s bounty, the seasons changing, a new flower blooming, a color here a color there, it is all so glorious!"
